Dr. Sameer Daniel is an accomplished academic and researcher specializing in Agroforestry, Forestry, and Medicinal and Aromatic Plants. With over 18 years of experience as an assistant professor, now an associate professor at the College of Forestry, SHUATS, Prayagraj, he has made significant contributions to teaching, research, and institutional development. He holds a Ph.D. in agroforestry and is a gold medalist in his postgraduate studies.
Dr. Daniel has authored and co-authored over 55 peer-reviewed research papers, multiple books, and book chapters in national and international publications. His research focuses on agroforestry systems, nursery management, land restoration, and sustainable agriculture practices. He has successfully guided numerous postgraduate and doctoral students and served as principal and co-principal investigator for research projects funded by ICAR, RKVY, and other organizations.
Recognized for his scholarly work, Dr. Daniel has received several accolades, including the Young Scientist Award (2012), Best Paper and Poster Presentation Awards, and the Innovative Faculty Award (2018). He actively participates in academic events, has organized conferences and training programs, and serves as a reviewer and life member for several scientific journals and societies. His passion for education, field research, and environmental sustainability continues to shape the development of agroforestry in India.
Agroforestry Systems Development: Design, evaluation, and optimization of agri-silviculture, silvi-pastoral, agri-horti, and alley cropping systems across various agro-climatic zones.
Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs): Cultivation techniques, agroforestry integration, and productivity enhancement using organic and inorganic inputs.
Nursery and Plantation Management: Application of growth regulators and propagation techniques for quality nursery stock production of tree species like Populus, Teak, Mulberry, and Moringa.
Soil Fertility & Land Reclamation: Research and field application of organic manures, biochar, and agroforestry models for degraded land restoration and sustainable soil health.
Agroforestry for Livelihood Security: Socio-economic assessment and policy evaluation of agroforestry adoption by small and marginal farmers.
Allelopathy & Intercropping Studies: Experimental studies on tree-crop interactions, leaf litter impact, and crop yield optimization under agroforestry conditions.
Climate Resilient Agriculture: Development of models to mitigate the effects of climate change through integrated agroforestry practices.

Dr. Sameer Daniel has over 18 years of teaching experience in the field of Agroforestry and Forestry, currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Silviculture and Agroforestry at the College of Forestry, SHUATS, Prayagraj, since April 1, 2006.
He has taught and mentored numerous undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. students, with expertise in agroforestry systems, medicinal and aromatic plants, nursery management, and sustainable land use. He has also been actively involved in curriculum development, student research supervision, and institutional accreditation processes.
