Professional Summary

With a graduation from University and Dairy Diploma from Allahabad Agricultural Institute and Post-graduate Diploma in Computer Application from Datapoint and SSi, Dr. Ebenezer Jeyakumar worked as Junior Executive and processing incharge in Dairy industry and software for four years. Then he pursued Masters in Microbiology from Allahabad Agricultural Institute - Deemed University and continued with doctoral research on antimicrobial agents. During this course of time he could successfully identify seven novel antimicrobial agents potent against multi-drug resistant bacterial pathogens which was published by the indian patent office in the year 2012. He has also obtained Masters in Technology in Biotechnology with specialization in Industrial Microbiology. Since the year 2003 he is employed as Assistant Professor at Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (Deemed-to-be-University), Allahabad and teaching subjects like General microbiology, Microbiological Techniques, Food and Dairy Microbiology and Medical Microbiology for Undergraduate, Post-graduate and Doctoral students. The major part of his research is focused on the discovery of novel antimicrobial agents.

As an experienced, enthusiastic and focused teacher he is committed to safeguarding and promoting the education and well-being of students at all times, he is passionate about giving the best possible education in life, and enjoys working in a busy environment and relishes the challenge of managing a diverse workload. He is able to establish a supportive relationship with not only students but also with fellow teachers all with the aim of promoting and reinforcing a student's independence and self-esteem. He is fundamentally committed to good practice and innovation and is very much a team player. Always engaged in continuous learning in order to broaden his knowledge and experience.

Area of Specialization

Food, Dairy, Medical and Industrial Microbiology

Expertise

Dr. Ebenezer started his professional career in the dairy industry as Junior executive (processing and quality control) and also spent sufficient time in teaching computer programming. At Allahabad Agricultural Institute he started his career as Project Assistant in a research project sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi under Prof. (Dr.) Pramila Gupta as Principal Investigator of the project. After the project tenure he was employed as Assistant Professor in Microbiology. In the past 13 years he is actively involved in teaching subjects like General Microbiology, Microbiological Techniques, Food and Dairy Microbiology and Medical Microbiology for Undergraduate, Post-graduate and other specialized subjects to Doctoral students. He has till now guided 70 Masters thesis and trained them efficiently to get jobs in various fields of microbiology. Presently, three students are pursuing doctoral research under his guidance. The research team he is involved with primarily focuses on discovery of novel antimicrobial agents for multi-drug resistant microbial pathogens. He has authored and co-authored two books on antimicrobial resistance. He has to his credit 7 patents at the Indian patent office.
