Professional Summary

Dr. Mishra joined SHIATS in Oct 2011 as an Associate Professor in SWLEM of VSAET. His responsibility includes teaching several courses of undergraduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) level in water resource, agricultural & civil engineering disciplines. He is also supervising UG and PG students in their research works and actively involved in writing research proposals. Additionally, he is conducting seminars and workshops for faculties and students and working closely with the societies of VSAET.

Prior to join SHIATS, Dr. Mishra worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Citrus Research and Education Center (CREC), the world’s biggest research institute of citrus in Florida, USA. His work responsibilities included evaluation of spectroscopic sensors for disease detection, development of algorithms for sensor signal processing, grant writing, project reports, journal manuscript preparation and assisting with other ongoing projects.

Dr. Mishra completed his B. Tech in Agricultural Engineering from SHIATS in 2001 and secured first position. He graduated from University of Arkansas, USA in 2005 with master’s degree in agricultural and biological engineering. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Florida at Gainesville, Florida, USA with a major in Agricultural and Biological Engineering and a minor in geographical information systems.

Expertise

Dr.Mishra is a precision agriculture/irrigation scientist working in the field of remote sensing, GIS, watershed modeling. His research interest includes crop water requirement estimation, disease detection in crops, nutrient management, aerial and satellite image processing, water quality and remote sensing application in natural resource management.

Teaching Experience

Dr. Mishra is teaching Remote sensing and GIS applications in Agriculture and Water Resorce Engineering. More than five years he is teaching various courses of Soil Water Engineering like hydrology, Irrigation Engineering, Hydraulics and Design of irrigation system, Wells and Pumps etc. to UG and PG students. He has supervised about  20 PG and 35 UG students.
