Professional Summary

Dr. Eapen P. Koshy joined the Department of Molecular and Cellular Engineering in 2008 and is presently working as Assistant Professor in the Department. He has completed his Master of Science in Botany (Specialization: Biotechnology) in 1997 and was awarded Doctor of Philosophy in Botany from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala in the Year 2008. He is currently teaching and guiding under-graduate, postgraduate and Doctoral students for their project work/dissertation/thesis. Currently, he has 28 publications with an aggregate NAAS rating of 80.82. He has attended various International and National Conferences/Symposia. He has authored chapters in two books and has published two practical manuals for UG and PG programmes in Molecular Cell Biology and Plant Tissue Culture. He is the Editorial Board Member of Asian Science: An International Peer Reviewed Journal and a Fellow of “Hind Agri – Horticultural Society”. He is the Life Member of Indian Science Congress Association and Bioved Research Society, Allahabad. He was awarded the Young Scientist Associate Award-2015 during the 17th Indian Agricultural Scientists and Farmers Congress, Allahabad, India. He is actively involved in the various committees of the School and Institute. Six students were awarded Ph.D. degree under his supervision and has advised many for their PG dissertations. Earlier he had worked as a Guest Faculty at Catholicate College, Pathnamthitta, Kerala for a short time period.

Dr. Koshy has expertise in Plant Tissue Culture and Plant Biotechnology. He has over 10 years of Research Experience and 8 years of Teaching experience. His area of interest is Micropropagation of Medicinal and Underutilized plants, Alternate plant Tissue Culture Media and Doubled Haploid Production. Currently, he has 28 publications with an aggregate NAAS rating of 80.82. He has authored chapters in two books and has published two practical manuals for UG and PG programmes in Molecular Cell Biology and Plant Tissue Culture. He is the Editorial Board Member of Asian Science: An International Peer Reviewed Journal and a Fellow of “Hind Agri – Horticultural Society”. Programmes; Plant Tissue Culture Technology, Techniques in Plant Micropropagation, Molecular Cell Biology and Molecular Breeding for P. G. Programmes and In vitro Haploid Production, Protoplast Culture, Production of Secondary Metabolites, Recent Advances in Plant Tissue Culture, Molecular Plant Biotechnology and Commercial Plant Tissue Culture for Ph. D. Programmes.

He is also actively participating in the various activities of the department and Institute. He was a member of the Practical Manuel Preperation Committee, Organising Committee Member of various Seminars and Conferences and was the treasurar for a World Congress and the International and National Seminars Organised by the Department.
