Tech. and later University Merit Scholarship of PAU, Ludhiana during his M. Tech.  He was also awarded with “ICAR Best Teacher Awardfor the year 2014-15 with cash prize of Rs. one lakh and a certificate.

Area of Specialization

Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, Ground Water Engineering

Expertise

He started his professional career as Research Fellow at Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology, Ludhiana in 1997 in ICAR scheme “Use of Plastics in Agriculture” where he was a part of a team who developed low tunnel green houses with pressurized irrigation systems for medicinal and aromatic plants. Later, he joined the team of ICAR National Professorship Project at Department of Soil and Water Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana as a Senior Research Fellow and developed two innovative ground water recharge techniques to control declining ground water level through surface drains and paddy fields. In 1999. he was selected for the post of Assistant Professor of Agricultural Engineering (Soil, Water, Land Engineering and Management) at the then Allahabad Agricultural Institute.

He has more than 25 years of experience in his professional career. He is mainly involved in teaching Undergraduate, Masters and Doctoral students and his area of research is ground water engineering, reclamation of water logged and salt affected soils through agricultural drainage systems, energy utilization in irrigation, water balance and crop growth modeling, control of groundwater depletion using innovative techniques, crop response to deficit irrigation, restructuring  of canal irrigation network,  demand based management of water supply in irrigated commands, participatory irrigation management, irrigation and groundwater modelling, rainfall-runoff modeling, etc. Till now he has guided/guiding 06 Ph.D. students and more than 60 M.
